About This Blog

If it's got to do with the real world, the coming future, politics, news or just something that's worth ranting or commenting about, IM Buzzing about it. This is a blog about the impact of the world on one person in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This is a story in motion

You see, I am a woman of mixed heritage, brought up African American who married a Greek man and had a child. I got divorced. I am a single mom, 40-something, breast cancer survivor and freelance writer.

All of these stories and posts on this blog have impacted, impressed, interested or disgusted me in some way.

So, I decided to chronicle my life's perceptions in this blog, day to day as things make an impression on my world. We hear and see things on television about "global this" and "global that". This is definitely not global anything. I just decided to start writing about how the world affects me. I also throw in some stuff about what I'm doing - writing, reading, selling stuff, living my life....

The second reason I started chronicling my world is because I can't remember anything if I don't write it down anymore.

Some people attribute it to menopause and others call it "chemo brain" fog from all the drugs they gave me to save my life. Whatever it is, this is sort of a look into what affects me, a to-do list about ideas I've come up with, so that in the long haul, when I look back, I'll have a journal of breadcrumbs about what was important in 2008, 2009 and beyond. I might even remember to do something I've written down here.

This will probably not make the world stage, but for those who know me, it will be a nice way to keep up with what I'm doing, what I'm thinking and where I'm headed. This blog is I guess not so much about me but my perceptions of what's going on around me.

I want to dedicate this blog to two people who've made an extraordinary impact on me - my mom who died on October 6, 2007 of brain and lung cancer, and my best friend, mentor, fellow dreamer and kindred soul - Lenny Rosenfeld who has stuck by me through thick and thin and believed I could be somebody even when I didn't believe it myself.

I also found the lyrics to Tim Russert's Tribute, made by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole who died leaving a legacy of his songs and lyrics. He lived in a place I dream to one day live in - Hawaii. I never knew that, but it seemed somehow fitting.

My name is Judith Allison, and I approve this message.
